Photography has long been a hobby of mine. Starting (I think) in grade 7, I purchased my first SLR (Miranda), a fine camera that I used for many years. I continued to take pictures (film) for many years including the 6 month trip through Europe I did after graduating from University.
While I did some photography work, I really didn't do much after I got married. I got enthused again in late '99 when I was part of a online photography start up called EZPrints. Digital was early then but the photography bug was reborn.
As my children got older and into sports, I purchased my first Digital SLR (Canon XT) in March '05, used that until I got my Canon 20D in May '06 and then a Canon 40D in Dec '07 and now a Canon 7D purchased in Oct '10. Over the years, my lens arsenal has increased. I use a 85mm f/1.8 for volleyball with the 135mm f/2 and 70-200 f/2.8 when light and conditions permit. For outdoor soccer, I use the 300 f/2.8 and at night the 70-200 f/2.8 and 135 f/2 (when the lights are real bad).
While photography is a hobby, my paying job is as VP Marketing / Business Development at
Wasp Barcode Technologies. I have been involved in sales and marketing roles in the technology world for the last 25+ years including a great time starting EZ Prints (
http://ezprints.com) in the late 90's, a pioneer in online digital photo printing that today is one of the leaders of digital print fulfilment.
As a weekend photo hobbiest, these photos are of my son's and daughter's sporting gigs -- primarily soccer and volleyball. My daughter did play two years of college volleyball, so managed to capture some of these games, but the kids are now out of sports. I'm now enjoying taking more family and friends photos with the odd landscape shots thrown in for fun.
I started using Zenfolio in late 2009 when my the other photo site (PBase) experienced a massive power outage that lasted for days. I still have most of my earlier pictures still there at
